Welcome to Amid The Wolves.

Sure, the name is kind of cool (maybe). It feels a little tactical, because, you know… wolves. It’s a bit metal sounding, because… wolves. Maybe even a bit nature documentary-ish. Who wouldn’t like to study wolves? (Probably your cat, Mr. Snuffles, or your neighbor’s rat masquerading as a dog.) Anyway, none of that in the name is intentional.

Amid The Wolves is a phrase that got stuck in one man’s head, on a rent-free, running loop, for years. Then it turned into an idea.

In Matthew 10:16, Jesus sends the twelve disciples out “as sheep in the midst of wolves” and finishes the sentence with, “so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” There is more stuff packed in Matthew 10, but that verse, that statement, is the foundation for Amid The Wolves.

It’s quite the paradox, and the statement was true then and it still rings true today. So, in a world that seems to be increasingly hostile, let’s see if we can be people who are wise and shrewd, yet, innocent and gentle. Let’s see if we can live Amid The Wolves.
